Smart Panchayat

Issue- To promote inclusive growth and development at Gram Panchayat level, an innovative concept of Smart Panchayats has been formulated by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Jharkhand. As per the Smart Panchayat plan, the Chanaro Gram Panchayat has been selected to be empowered to improve the overall quality of life of all the households in the panchayat over a period of two years (April 1, 2017 - March 31, 2019).
An associate organization of Tata Trusts and Dharmalife Foundation are acting as a consortium to provide technical and directional support to rollout the Smart Panchayat in Chanaro.
The roadblocks identified for this ambitious plan are:
• Road Connectivity, Electricity and Clean Energy
• Digital and Financial Literacy
• Education
• Health, Hygiene & Sanitation, Water
• Indoor Air Pollution
• Agriculture and other livelihoods
• Panchayat level Governance and Management

Impact:
The Project is still in its development phase where a detailed Smart Panchayat roll-out plan has been prepared and submitted to the Government of Jharkhand.
